Sarah Ross, PhD, LPC, CAADC Licensed Professional Counselor in Michigan
About Sarah Ross
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision and an Advanced Alcohol and Drug Certification. I have a range of clinical experience consisting of working with teens, adults, families, and couples who are experiencing mental health symptoms and life’s challenges. I have worked with a variety of mental health concerns, including anxiety, stress, adjustment disorders, depression, and family/relationship issues.
I view counseling as a personal journey to improve overall well-being and life satisfaction. I believe counseling is a specialization sought by individuals to understand their challenges and gain the tools to manage them. I join individuals on this journey as a collaborative team, setting and working towards counseling goals. While I may provide some directions based on my specialized expertise, my intent is that we explore your needs, with you being the expert on your life. I also recognize that you live within various systems (family, work, culture) that impact your life in different ways and that counseling must consider these components in the process.
I view counseling from a person-centered trans-theoretical approach, meeting each individual where they are at in their stage of change. I utilize Solution-Focused, Cognitive-Behavioral, and Family Systems techniques in the counseling process. I will work with individuals on concrete thoughts and actions while helping to make effective changes toward established goals. My overall goal is to build a trusting and safe environment where individuals feel open to addressing their concerns and achieving successful outcomes.
