Sarah Kraft, LMSW Licensed Master Social Worker in Michigan
About Sarah Kraft
I believe in working to develop a therapeutic relationship where you feel connected, supported, and safe. This is a collaborative process, and I hope to be an assistant in your recovery journey. I understand trust is important to your ability to work through what you need for wellness, and it can take time.
I specialize in researched, proven to be effective therapy models that can offer those with the conditions they are designed for a lot of relief, if not resolution of the diagnosis. When ready, I encourage my clients to make use of those therapies. Often, it can be hard work, but my graduates would tell you that to say “it’s worth it” is an understatement.
I graduated from University of Michigan School of Social Work in 2001 where I learned Motivational Interviewing, still a staple in my approach. I practiced as a therapist years ago on child abuse and neglect cases for families in the protective services and foster case systems. For the last 10 years, I’ve worked with adults in community mental health where I helped people facing a severe level of symptoms. During this time, I studied and practiced CPT (Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), and RO DBT (Radically Open Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) for conditions of overcontrol.
Whether you believe I am the right “click in” therapist for you, or not, I appreciate the steps for wellness and recovery you are taking. That shows courage, and I hope you will continue to follow that path.
If you are looking to work with me, please consider that my standard schedule to see clients is Tue-Thu beginning at 9am, lunch at 12pm, ending sessions at 6pm. While I am able, and often do go out of those boxes some in my scheduling with established clients, it's best if you generally have availability during those times. If a note for work requesting that you have an hour off during your workday for therapy is needed, I'm happy to write in support of that provided completion of release of information.
