Heather Smith, LMSW Licensed Master Social Worker in Michigan
About Heather Smith
Welcome!
My name is Heather Smith, and I am a licensed Master’s Level Social Worker. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Central Michigan University, and later, my master’s degree from Wayne State University, where I specialized in interpersonal theories with a focus on the family-systems approach.
Prior to working in private practice, I gained extensive experience as a school social worker, where I had the privilege of working with children, young adults, and their families. My areas of expertise include anxiety and stress management, developing coping strategies, behavioral modification, building self-esteem and self-advocacy skills, and examining and healing from trauma.
In my practice, I use a strengths-based approach combined with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to empower my clients and support them in achieving their goals. My focus is on helping individuals find their inner resilience and build the skills needed to navigate life’s challenges.
I look forward to the opportunity to work together and support you on your journey.
“In times of stress, the best thing we can do for each other is to listen with our ears and our hearts and to be assured that our questions are just as important as our answers.”
