About Catherine Moritz
Therapy can mean something different to everyone. I can help you understand yourself better, especially if there is a complicated family or relationship history, past or present, that impacts your mental health. As your therapist, I can help you process trauma, set boundaries, understand
your own unique psychology, form a more stable identity, and help you express your authentic self- all of which serves to improve your quality of life.
I incorporate many theoretical orientations towards this objective, most often using an approach referred to as “psycho-dynamic.” This simply means I value all experiences throughout your life, including subconscious and childhood dynamics, as well as exploring defense mechanisms that
may play out in the present day that negatively impact your mental health. I also utilize cognitive behavioral techniques for coping skills and thinking problems, along with family systems perspectives, and existential approaches for bigger-than-yourself questions and feelings.
Above all else, our unique therapeutic relationship is the vehicle of change, and you, as the client, are in the driver’s seat. I work to minimize any destabilizing through the trust and rapport developed over time in session. I hope to work together.
